can be defined
as a pattern of behavior in any relationship that is used to gain or maintain
power and control over an intimate partner or family member.
Abuse includes
physical, sexual, emotional, economic or psychological actions or threats. This
includes any behaviors that frighten, intimidate, terrorize, manipulate, hurt,
humiliate, blame, injure or wound someone.
Domestic violence doesn’t care about race, economic status, or
location. It happens everywhere - in the middle of the inner-city and inside
multi-million dollar homes in high-end gated communities.
It may be happening in
your neighbor’s home, your co-worker’s home, or even inside your own home.
Chances are that you know a victim of domestic violence – even if you have no
idea who it may be.
And if you are a victim of domestic violence, know this -
You are not alone.
